Abstract

Spirituality is an intangible aspect of human existence. It deals with an emotional intelligence and provides checks and balances in one’s life. Islamic spirituality has been found to have a positive impact on psychological well-being in several studies. In a study on Muslim women in the United States, Frazier and colleagues found that Islamic spirituality was associated with greater emotional regulation and resilience, which are important components of psychological well-being. Other studies have also shown that Islamic spirituality is associated with greater life satisfaction, self-esteem, and optimism. For instance, a study by Jafari, Farahani, and Abedi found that religiosity and Islamic spirituality were associated with higher levels of psychological well-being among Iranian university students. Similarly, another study by Tariq, Chaudhry, and Abbasi reported that Islamic spirituality was significantly associated with higher levels of psychological well-being among Pakistani university students.
