Abstract

The article discusses the need to develop more experts in safety, health, and environmental technology to address risks in the current industrial era. Rapid technological advances like AI and IoT are changing the nature of work, creating new unforeseen risks. Professionals need comprehensive skills to adapt and manage dynamic, complex risks effectively. Initiatives to develop technocrats and experts in safety, occupational health, and environment are strategic investments. They can help communities by leveraging technologies to prevent emerging hazards. Continuous adjustments to safety, health, and environmental protocols are needed to stay relevant. Globalisation brings inconsistent practices across borders. Without adequate expertise, risks may be missed. Emerging technologies like AI-enabled IoT monitoring can enhance risk management - identifying hazards, analysing data, and providing recommendations. Controlled databases ensure AI reliability. Technology integration enables targeted interventions. Experts should integrate new technologies into their work to tackle new risks that arise from modernisation. Nurturing tech-savvy, versatile experts is crucial in the age of digitalisation and AI.
