Abstract

Shared values often find expression in related initiatives. When policymakers recognize and leverage this phenomenon in their policy formulation, they have the potential to achieve multiple objectives through a single set of initiatives. In this study, qualitative content analysis was employed with the aim of establishing a practical conceptual alignment between the ten sub-themes of the 9th International Islamic Monetary Economics and Finance Conference (9th IIMEFC) and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set forth by the United Nations. The analysis revealed that the primary elements within the 9th IIMEFC sub-themes encompass Islamic finance, digitalization, sustainable development, and entrepreneurship, all of which are aligned with the 17 SDGs. These SDGs encompass a broad range of objectives, including eradicating poverty, ensuring food security, promoting health and well-being, enhancing education quality, advancing gender equality, ensuring access to clean water and sanitation, promoting affordable and clean energy, fostering economic growth and decent employment, supporting innovation and infrastructure development, reducing inequalities, creating sustainable urban and economic environments, encouraging responsible consumption and production, addressing climate change, preserving marine and terrestrial ecosystems, promoting peace, justice, and strong governance, and fostering partnerships for achieving these goals. The study's findings culminate in the proposition of an IIMEFC-SDGs harmonization framework, accompanied by a discussion on the convergence and potential divergences between the two models. Future research endeavors should aim to enhance this conceptual framework by incorporating secondary global data, facilitating a more seamless convergence between these two influential models.
