Abstract

This research explores the pivotal role of taqwa, an Islamic concept referring to God-consciousness, in bolstering the resilience of small businesses. Small businesses are susceptible to various external and internal challenges, making resilience a critical factor in their survival and growth. To investigate this relationship, personal interviews were conducted with five small business owners from diverse industries, each practicing taqwa as a core value within their entrepreneurial journey. The findings of this study reveal profound insights into how taqwa influences small business resilience. Taqwa fosters a sense of purpose and moral responsibility, motivating owners to navigate adversity with patience and perseverance. It also encourages ethical business practices, fostering trust among stakeholders and promoting long-term sustainability. Moreover, the spiritual dimension of taqwa provides emotional strength, helping entrepreneurs manage stress and setbacks more effectively. This research underscores the significance of taqwa as a valuable intangible asset in the realm of small business management. The integration of taqwa principles can empower small business owners to face challenges with unwavering determination, integrity, and a heightened sense of purpose, ultimately contributing to the enhanced resilience and success of their ventures. These findings offer valuable insights for entrepreneurs, policymakers, and scholars seeking to promote the sustainability of small businesses in diverse contexts.
