Abstract

Malaysia, a multiracial and multi-religious country with Islam as its official religion, grapples with societal opposition to the LGBTQ community, comprising Lesbian (L), Gay (G), Bisexual (B), Transgender (T), and Queer (Q) individuals. While traditional views persist, recent decades have seen improved public attitudes and policies towards LGBTQ individuals, reflecting evolving psychological values within the LGBTQ communities. This paper delves into the demographic characteristics, interviews conducted with LGBTQ participants in Kuantan, Pahang, and the psychological aspects explored through open-ended questions. Qualitative data analysis provides insights into the diverse opinions within the LGBTQ community, accompanied by justifications for questionnaire responses. The methodology, encompassing sample size, subject recruitment, and data collection procedures, draws on the participants' experiences, judgments, and intuitions. This research sheds light on the evolving psychological landscape within the present-day LGBTQ community.
