Abstract
This research aims to defend the Sunnah of the Prophet, so it talked about the brief biography of Imam Al-Tahawi, and his contributions to the “Mukhtalaf al-hadiths” and “Mshkil al-Hadith” (Problematic or Contradictory Hadiths), and he defined these two terms: the “Mukhtalaf al-hadiths” and “Mshkil al-Hadith”. Then he touched on the position of the “Mshkil al-Hadith” in the sciences of hadith. Then he went through the history of the phenomenon of problems in hadith, and after that he came to explain the importance of this art, then he separated the discussion from his two books, “Explanation of the Meanings of Hadiths” and “Bayan Mushkil al-Hadiths,” and he detailed his approach to them, their place among the books of this art, and the reasons for the problems in The hadith mentioned 20 reasons, and this research concluded by highlighting the phenomenon of problems in hadith in the present era. He used two approaches: the inductive approach and the analytical approach.
