Abstract

The ḥadīth on ‘Prophet Sulaymān Visiting Multiple Wives in a Single Night’ is one of the controversial ḥadīths since it has been claimed to run counter to human logic or possible act. Therefore, it has been included under the subject of mushkil al-ḥadīth. Moreover, some scholars have raised questions about the rationality of the number of wives and the possibility of engaging in sexual intercourse with that many wives within a single night. The article in this book chapter discusses the issues from both riwayah and dirayah sciences; and consequently suggests the right methodology in understanding the Hadith.
