Abstract

Working in the field of specialization is the ultimate goal of most graduates. In today’s labour market, some people get the chance to work in their field, and some are not due to internal and external factors such as employability skills and job vacancies. This study focused on exploring the employability of Arabic Language and Literature Graduates. The researcher used two primary approaches: a survey and an analytical method to conduct this study. 58 graduates from Department of Arabic Language and Literature in 2020 were chosen randomly to answer a questionnaire containing 35 items to achieve three objectives of the study; to know the percentage of employment of graduates of Arabic language and literature at the International Islamic University Malaysia in fields related to the Arabic language, the factors that lead to non-employment of graduates of Department of Arabic Language and Literature in fields related to the Arabic language, and the efforts made by the graduates to develop their employability skills. The primary data were analyzed using the Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS). The search tools obtained a value of Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.83 for the instrument. The results showed that the number of graduates who are working in non-Arabic language fields is higher than those who work in the fields of Arabic language and from their perspectives, the most important employability skills that need to be developed to get a job are personal attributes, communication skills, and lastly professional or technical skills. ملخص البحث العمل في مجال التخصص هو الهدف النهائي لمعظم الخريجين. في سوق العمل اليوم، يحصل بعض الخريجين على فرصة العمل في مجالهم، وبعض الآخر لم يحصلوها بسبب عوامل داخلية وخارجية مثل مهارات التوظيف والوظائف الشاغرة. ركزت هذه الدراسة إلى استكشاف توظيف خريجي اللغة العربية وآدابها. استخدمت الباحثتان منهجين أساسيين: المسحي والتحليلي لإجراء هذه الدراسة. تم اختيار 58 خريجا من قسم اللغة العربية وآدابها في 2020 بشكل عشوائي للإجابة على استبيان يحتوي على 35 بندا لتحقيق ثلاثة أهداف الدراسة؛ معرفة نسبة توظيف خريجي اللغة العربية وآدابها بالجامعة الإسلامية العالمية بماليزيا في مجالات ذات الصلة باللغة العربية، والعوامل التي تؤدي إلى عدم توظيف خريجي قسم اللغة العربية وآدابها في مجالات ذات الصلة باللغة العربية، والجهود التي يبذلها الخريجون لتنمية مهارات التوظيف لديهم. وقد تم تحليل البيانات الأولية باستخدام برنامج الحزمة الإحصائية للعلوم الاجتماعية (SPSS). حصلت أدوات البحث على قيمة معامل ألفا كرونباخ 0.83. أظهرت النتائج أن عدد الخريجين الذين يعملون في مجالات غير ذات الصلة باللغة العربية أعلى من الذين يعملون في مجالات اللغة العربية ومن وجهة نظرهم، من أهم مهارات التوظيف التي يجب تنميتها للحصول على الوظيفة هي السمات الشخصية، ومهارات الاتصال، وأخيراً المهارات الفنية أو المهنية
