Abstract

From a Quranic perspective, Islam is more than a religion. It is introduced as dīn, which refers to a worldview and a way of life inspired by the Almighty Allah. It deals with all aspects of human life related to both seen and unseen worlds. The Quranic worldview is the view of the world which determines the way in which people – whether as individuals or collective entities – understand themselves, comprehend the purpose of their existence, and decide their conduct in relation to both the laws of the cosmos and their own human nature. Among the great Muslim thinkers, who were concerned with the decadent state of the Ummah and devoted their lives to reclaiming the lost dignity of Muslims, are Muhammad Iqbal (1877-1938) and AbdulHamid AbuSulayman (1936-2021). As brilliant minds of the Ummah, it is conspicuous that both of them complimentarily share distinctive features in their thoughts and efforts, a fact that paves the pathway to conduct this research to explore them to bring forth an integrated, refined and relevantized vision. This study seems vital since the issues they dealt with are still faced by modern-day Muslims but in severe shapes. Employing descriptive, analytical and critical methods, this article attempts to look into the kind of guidance the Quranic worldview offers for humankind from the viewpoints of Muhammad Iqbal and AbdulHamid AbuSulayman, followed by an analysis of the major principles embodied in it. This study will delve into a discourse on How do their views complementarily correlate to lead the way ahead in terms of building a wholesome civilisation.
