Abstract

The deployment of e-learning technologies has surged globally due to the quick digital transformation of higher education. Nonetheless, the enduring viability of e-learning requires more than just technological frameworks; it depends on the interplay among institutional capability, stakeholder preparedness, digital proficiency, and effective teaching methodologies. In nations like Bangladesh, colleges face distinct obstacles related to technological accessibility, institutional readiness, teacher competence, and substantial student involvement. Consequently, comprehending stakeholder experiences is crucial for formulating sustainable e-learning approaches. This research examines stakeholders' viewpoints on the obstacles, facilitating factors, and requirements for the effective implementation of sustainable e-learning at selected private universities in Bangladesh. A qualitative exploratory research framework was utilized, including students, professors, and administrative participants. Data was gathered through focus group discussions and semi- structured interviews. The gathered data underwent thematic analysis to discern recurring patterns and connections among stakeholder experiences. The results indicated that interrelated technological, institutional, individual, and social-pedagogical factors affect the implementation of sustainable e-learning. Participants identified unstable internet connectivity, limited access to learning management systems, inadequate technical support, and a lack of digital resources as significant technological obstacles. Participants recognized institutional elements such as policy transparency, faculty development, administrative backing, and quality control systems as crucial for sustained implementation. Moreover, digital literacy, self-assurance, autonomous learning capacity, educator support, evaluative feedback systems, and cooperative learning were identified as essential elements that influence successful e-learning experiences. This research develops a sustainable e-learning ecosystem framework that incorporates stakeholder experiences, technological prerequisites, institutional preparedness, individual competencies, and social-pedagogical involvement. The suggested framework underwent additional scrutiny via expert assessment to evaluate its contextual significance and practical utility. This research advances sustainable e-learning research by moving beyond technology-focused adoption perspectives and offering a stakeholder-informed framework appropriate for higher education institutions in developing settings.
