Abstract

Hemorrhoids and perineal trauma are common during pregnancy and after childbirth, causing pain that may interfere with sitting, breastfeeding, mobility, sleep, and maternal recovery. Conventional donut cushions may concentrate pressure, retain heat and moisture, provide inadequate ergonomic support, and lack features tailored to postpartum care. HemoComfort is an innovative, evidence-informed ergonomic cushion designed to reduce pressure and improve sitting comfort among postpartum mothers, pregnant women, individuals with hemorrhoids and post-anorectal surgery patients. Its U-shaped design minimizes direct pressure on the hemorrhoids, perineum, and coccyx while promoting effective body-weight distribution. Its dual-layer structure combines high-density memory foam for support with a cooling gel layer for heat relief. A removable thermal insert enables cold therapy to reduce pain and swelling or warm therapy to promote muscle relaxation. The cushion also features a waterproof antimicrobial cover for improved hygiene and a lightweight, portable design. HemoComfort is expected to reduce sitting-related pain, improve mobility, support comfortable breastfeeding, enhance quality of life, and increase maternal satisfaction. Future development will incorporate smart pressure sensors and a mobile application for sitting reminders, pain tracking, and recovery monitoring
