Abstract

This paper explores the intersection of Tawhidic epistemology and accessibility in para-sport facilities, emphasizing the need for an inclusive Islamic framework that upholds the dignity and rights of persons with disabilities (PwDs). Grounded in the principle of Tawhid, the unity of God and the interconnectedness of the study positions on accessibility not merely as a technical or regulatory concern but as a manifestation of spiritual, ethical, and social responsibility. Using a qualitative approach, the paper reviews existing accessibility standards in para-sport facilities and critically examines them through the lens of Islamic epistemology, particularly the concepts of human vicegerency (khilafah), trust (amanah), and justice (‘adl). The analysis highlights gaps in current facility designs, including barriers in mobility, inadequate adaptive infrastructure, and the limited integration of universal design principles. It argues that a Tawhidic perspective provides a holistic foundation for rethinking accessibility, where inclusivity is seen as part of worship (‘ibadah) and the pursuit of societal well-being (maslahah). By linking Islamic values with global accessibility discourse, the paper proposes a model for para-sport facility development that ensures equitable participation, fosters social integration, and reflects the Qur’anic ethos of compassion and inclusivity. This study contributes to the growing scholarship on Islamic perspectives in disability studies while offering practical implications for policymakers, architects, and sport administrators in Muslim contexts.
