Abstract

Dr Muhammad Nejatullah Siddiqi was an eminent Islamic economist and is regarded as one of the pioneering scholars in the field. His contributions spanned both the theoretical development and the practical application of Islamic economics. Siddiqi hailed from Uttar Pradesh (UP), India, and became associated with the Jamat-e-Islami Hind during his early youth. Unlike many other Islamic scholars in India, who typically received their Islamic education through the well-established Madrasah system with deep historical roots dating back to the British colonial period, Siddiqi’s training in Islamic studies was achieved through special arrangements and his own personal efforts.
