Abstract

The integration of large language models (LLMs) in academic research offers significant efficiency gains but introduces critical risks, such as fabricated outputs or hallucinations. To safeguard research integrity, this paper proposes the Hybrid Verification Model, a three-stage sequential framework that synthesizes contemporary research ethics with classical Islamic scholarly methodologies. In Stage 1 (AI-Assisted Discovery), AI functions as a pattern-sensitive assistant to locate sources, translate texts, and map thematic landscapes, treating outputs strictly as preliminary leads rather than final findings. Next, Stage 2 (Human Validation — Tahqiq) requires researchers to maintain strict intellectual oversight by independently verifying every AI-generated claim and citation directly against primary sources. Finally, Stage 3 (Ethical Adjudication — Maqasid al-Shari'ah) evaluates validated findings against disciplinary norms and higher objectives to ensure the research serves human welfare through purposive moral reasoning. Ultimately, this model structures an iterative loop that reframes AI as a capable yet fundamentally unreliable first drafter requiring disciplined, morally conscious human engagement.
