Abstract
This review defines Afrolongevity as an emerging interdisciplinary discipline that is
dedicated to extending the healthy lifespan of African populations. The continent is
currently grappling with a unique "Double Burden" as it navigates a rapid demographic
transition: the continuous challenge of managing infectious diseases in conjunction with a
substantial rise in age-related non-communicable diseases (NCDs). This dual burden
necessitates a paradigm shift in public health and biomedical research. The review
integrates diverse domains to establish a strategic roadmap for achieving equitable
longevity and constructing a robust framework for geroscience that is unique to the
African context.
