Abstract
The waters of Lampuuk and Lhoknga are known to be complex; apart from being influenced by sea tides, these waters are also influenced by sea waves. This research discusses the propagation of sea waves, current circulation, and changes in bed morphology for erosion and sedimentation in the Lampuuk and Lhoknga of Aceh Besar Regency, Indonesia. The input of the model is derived from the average of significant wave height, the peak period, and wave direction from Wave Watch III Global Wave from 2020 to 2021. The input value of the significant wave height is 2 meters, and the peak period is 15 second with the wave direction from the west. Based on the simulation results, the maximum wave height is 3.5 meter. The current circulation caused by these waves produces longshore currents with speeds reaching 2 m/s and rip currents reaching 1.5 m/s. The results of sea wave refraction and diffraction indicate that wave propagation in the bay area tends to be more spread out (sedimentation). On the other hand, in headland areas, wave propagation becomes more concentrated (erosion). The bed morphology model also shows sedimentation in the bay area and erosion in the headland areas. The urgency of this research is to take a step-in changing morphology and coastlines so that stakeholders take the lead in managing coasts and seas.
