Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the legal field, with significant implications for access to justice. This research paper delves into the role of AI in legal practice, particularly it effects on due process, legal representation, liability, and the broader accessibility of legal services. Utilizing a methodological approach that combines a survey of legal practitioners with a review of recent studies, this paper evaluates how AI technologies might either bridge or further widen the existing digital divide in the legal sector. The results indicate that while AI significantly enhances efficiency in legal research and document drafting, it often falls short in performing complex legal analyses, which could adversely affect the due process and the quality of legal representation. The study underscores the necessity of developing a balanced regulatory framework to ensure AI is used ethically and effectively in legal practice, ensuring that it supports rather than undermines justice.
