Mrs Nazira Zubir

Nazira is a Deputy Dean (DG54) for Office of Student Development and Community Engagement (SDCE) at CFS, IIUM and currently pursuing Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Engineering at Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya. She graduated from Adelaide University, Australia with a B.Sc. (major in Pharmacology & Physiology). Then, she obtained Master of Engineering (MEng) in Biomedical with Distinction (CGPA:4) from University of Malaya. She has diverse working experiences, including broadcasting, editorial and education. She has been with RTM, TV3, PETROSAINS Sdn. Bhd. (subsidiary of PETRONAS) before joining the Centre for Foundation Studies, International Islamic University Malaysia (CFSIIUM) in December 2005. She has taught different levels of Biology subjects offered to the students at CFS since 2006 (Biology I, Biology II, Biology III, Practical Biology and General Biology(for engineering students). She was appointed as the Head of Biology Department in January, 2018. Before that, she was the Course Coordinator(CC) for Biology Department for several years since 2010. She is also Head of Moderator (HoM) for Biology department, Biology question vetter/moderator as well as question setter for 'Peperiksaan Semester Program Matrikulasi' (PSPM) under Ministry of education (MOE/KPM) since 2008. During her service at CFSIIUM, she has obtained a few awards: Best Teacher Award (CFS Level) in 2010, Exemplary Teacher Award (CFS Level) in 2011, Best Teacher Award (Sciences, University Level) in 2012 and Murabbi Award (Female) at CFS level in 2023. She has received merit based promotion for DG44 in Sept, 2014; for DG48 in June, 2016 and for DG52 in January, 2018. In June, 2022, she was promoted to DG54. Nazira is the lead Biology author for 3 vols of books: Natural Science from the Worldview of Qur'an (NSWVQ): An introduction. The books were published in April 2018 by Malaysian Institute of Translation & Books (ITBM). She is also actively involved in many programmes organized by Biology department as well as research studies.
