Abstract

Depression is a mental illness that causes emotional disorders and affect the daily life of an individual, including thoughts, feelings, behavior and well-being. Depression among students is very common. The implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) announced by the government restricts the movements of all Malaysians, including students. This situation worsened the issues of depression among students. This article aims to share the experience of the Dar al-Hikmah Library in reducing the issue of depression among students of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) who are stranded on campus, through the library services. In this paper, the author will explain the services offered by the Library during the Covid 19 pandemic, the impact of services offered to the students who are stranded on campus, the small contribution of the library staff that gave a big impact and the importance of mutual trust among team members in offering service. This paper will provide information on the services that can help to reduce the issues of depression among stranded students during the Covid 19 pandemic. This paper is proposed to be considered as a guide to improve the service quality and ways of working among team members in providing high impact services.
