Abstract

Malaysia strives to advance the halal industry’s development and achieve its goal of becoming a global halal hub for innovation, production, and trade. Human competency and capability building play an essential role in the halal industry ability to sustain in the competitive global market. Competence Halal Executive is one of the success factors to supporting comprehensive and future developments in the halal industry. Prior studies, however, have reported issues related to incompetency among Halal Executives. Thus, this study aims to develop a core competencies index for Halal executives in Malaysia using a combination of document analysis and an integrated Delphi – AHP technique. This study will contribute to the competencies outline that halal industry players and relevant authorities require for the Halal Executive. As for the nation, this study is expected to help Malaysia achieve the target of being the global reference center for halal integrity, especially in the training aspect. It could partially actualize the eighth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 – decent work and economic growth.
