Abstract

This chapter deliberates on the use of Think Aloud Protocol (TAP) as a method of data collection in qualitative research. To enhance understanding on the application of this technique, detailed descriptions on its implementation in one particular study is provided. Some contentions on the technique which were retrieved from the literature are also highlighted to enable researchers to be cautious when utilising it. The chapter also focuses on the relation of the technique to how it was applied in the Islamic research tradition in order to illuminate to the readers that most of the so-called contemporary research methods do in actual fact originate from the Islamic research tradition i.e. the Holy Quran and the Hadiths.
