Abstract

This map shows royal elements of traditional urban configuration of palace, river, masjid, padang and market in Alor Setar, Kedah. The palace (Istana Kuning) is located at the riverside of the Kedah River. Balai Besar and Balai Nobat opposite to Istana Kuning. Masjid Zahir and padang (open spaces) are located between Balai Besar and Istana Kuning. The public realm includes public buildings such as Balai Besar (an audience hall) and a masjid (mosque).
