Abstract

NAbi Yusuf 'alaihissalam (sekitar 1745-1635 sm) adalah nabi Islam yang diutuskan selepas nabi Ya'qub as. Nabi Yusuf 'alaihis salam merupakan anak nabi Ya'qub' alaihis salam dan merupakan buyut dari nabi Ibrahim 'alaihis salam. Kisah nabi Yusuf dijelaskan dalam satu surat khusus dalam al Qur-an surat ke 12 yakni "Surat Yusuf" yang terdiri dari 111 surat. Suatu ketika ada kafilah yang sedang berjalan menuju mesir, yaitu satu kafilah besar. Semua kafilah itu menuju telaga, mereka berhenti untuk menambah air. Mereka menghulurkan timba ke telaga. Lalu nabi Yusuf as bergelantung pada timba tersebut. Orang yang menghulur timba mengira bahawa timbanya telah penuh dengan air. Namun setelah dilihatnya ternyata seorang manusia. Selepas itu mereka menjual nabi Yusuf ke pasaran seperti riwayat dalam al'qur'an berikut:
