Abstract

OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRADUATE STUDIES IN QUANTITY SURVEYING RELATED PROGRAMMES’ AT KAED IIUM (TAUGHT MASTERS, MASTERS AND PHD BY RESEARCH. 1. Introduction 2. The reasons of pursuing PhD studies at KAED, IIUM 3. My journey experience as a PhD student at KAED, IIUM 4. What really happened in the journey to achieve PhD goals 5. Success in PhD studies is like an iceberg 6. Strategies to mitigate setbacks during PhD studies 7. Rewards from the PhD studies The Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design & Department of Quantity Surveying provide a platform for postgraduate studies that include masters by taught course or research and PhD. This session is conducted to promote the postgraduate programmes to students and others. The postgraduates QS related programmes offered are: 1. Master of Science in Quantity Surveying & International Procurement (MSc. QS&IP). This programme is designed not only to upgrade the training and skills of practicing professionals but also to provide intellectual and professional training to those wishing to specialize in the Quantity Surveying and International Procurement area at postgraduate level. 2. Master of Science in Asset and Facilities Management (MSc. AFM) At the end of this programme, students will be able to achieve detail knowledge on the core part of asset and facilities management; methods (skills) of using tools and techniques for the solution to problems related with asset and facilities management; how to establish a conducive and healthy working environment; increase problem solving capability through creativity, communications skills and critical thinking; ability to establish, use and evaluate performance using asset and facilities management system (indicator). The programme will also help in the development of leadership, communication, interpersonal skills and awareness through working in small groups, involvement in discussions and site visit. 3. Master of Science in Built Environment (By Research) 4. Doctor of Philosophy in Built Environment
