Abstract

Steam distillation technique was used to extract essential oil from Key lime (Citrus aurantifolia Swing) and kalamansi (Citrus microcarpa Bunge). The laboratory scale steam distillations were carried out to estimate the oil contents in both Citrus spp. It was found that the oil contents in Key lime and kalamansi were 0.28 and 0.21% respectively. And from analytical data, the properties of both oils were at par with the standard specifications.
