Abstract

Beberapa aspek berhubung dengan kaedah penghasilan, kandungan kimia, penyimpanan dan kegunaan minyak pati dihuraikan. Kaedah-kaedah penghasilan secara tradisional seperti ekstraksi wangian (enfluerage) dan pemaseratan (macceration) sudah jarang dipraktikkan berbanding dengan kaedah-kaedah moden seperti, ekstraksi dengan pelarut meruap dan penyulingan (termasuk penyulingan vakum). Kajian ke atas kandungan kimia dan penyimpanan perlu dititikberatkan. bagi mempastikan yang minyak pati itu bermutu tinggi dan tidak rosak dalam jangkamasa yang lama. The important aspects on extraction methods, chemical constituents, storage and applications of essential oils were explained. The traditional techniques, i.e. enfluerage and maceration were not popularly practiced nowadays as compared to modern methods such as solvent extraction and steam distillation (including vacuum distillation). Studies on chemical constituents and storage should be taken into consideration in order to ensure the high quality on essential oil as well as the oils would not deteriorate for a long time.
