Abstract

The cyber age affects all aspects of life. In defamation law, new trends of anonymous defamer, limited meaning of defamer, liberal meaning of defence of qualified privilege, insistence on actual damage, multiple places of publication, and irrelevancy of slander have emerged. Some results of these trends are horrifying. The common law tort of defamation may die an unnatural death and be replaced by heretofor unknown legal principles and rules.
