Abstract

The growing importance of listening skills in education and language acquisition has driven increasing scholarly attention to listening assessment. However, limited bibliometric research has mapped the global research landscape in this field. This study addresses this gap by conducting a bibliometric analysis using Scopus-indexed publications on “listening assessment.” The dataset of 884 documents (2000–2025) was analyzed using Scopus Analyzer, OpenRefine, and VOSviewer to examine publication trends, key authors, prolific countries, and keyword clusters. Results revealed steady growth in listening assessment research, led by the United States, United Kingdom, and China. Thematic clusters identified include “language testing,” “listening comprehension,” and “assessment tools.” Co-authorship and collaboration networks showed expanding international cooperation, especially among English-speaking and Asian countries. These findings offer insights into the intellectual development of listening assessment research and highlight emerging areas for future exploration.
