Abstract
An essential attribute of the development of Islamic economics as a discipline is not only how actively engaged and committed the research community is, but also, how well the substantive aspects of Islamic economics are being disseminated and institutionalised within the educational ecosystem. This book explores this issue in the context of the teaching of microeconomics at the undergraduate level in Southeast Asian universities. Part I of this book elucidates the foundations of Islamic worldview and value system essential to the teaching of microeconomics, while Part II presents the experiences of selected institutions in Malaysia and Indonesia in teaching microeconomics with Islamic perspectives. The experiences shared by these institutions highlight a variety of approaches to introduce Islamic perspectives at the microeconomic level. They are a reflection of the future possibilities, opportunities and challenges of Islamising economics.
