Abstract

Besides correct faith, performing obligatory duties and abandoning prohibited deeds, success of a believer in this world and life hereafter also depends on several important factors. One of these factors is to maintain taqwa. Taqwa is so important that all Prophets, including the last Prophet (peace be upon them), invited their followers to maintain taqwa immediately after inviting them to worship Allah Subhanahu wa Ta`ala (SWT). All righteous caliphs after the last Prophet peace be upon him (pbuh) also invited Muslims to maintain this quality. Considering its importance, Muslim scholars authored several books on it. Using descriptive and analytical methods and depending primarily on the Qur’anic verses and ahadith of the prophet (pbuh), this paper strives to investigate how taqwa can have significant impact on the comprehensive success of a believer in this world and the life hereafter. An important finding of this paper could be that without having taqwa, a believer cannot be comprehensively successful in his worldly life and in his life hereafter.
