Abstract

This descriptive analytical study discussed; Foundations and constituents of electoral practices in the Sultanate of Oman. It aimed to shed light on the types of elections; discuss the methods and methods of elections; finally, present the conditions for exercising the right to vote. The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical method. The results of the study showed: Elections are characterized by a set of features, the first of which is generality and equality. The concept of restricted election refers to the law requiring the availability of a certain amount of money or a degree of education as a condition for its practice. Direct election is directly related to the will of the voters, and indirect election, which takes place on two levels, whereby they choose delegates who, in turn, choose the representatives of the people through a new election. As for the conditions for exercising the right to vote; The Omani legislator granted both sexes the right to vote without discrimination, when the following conditions are met: that the voter has completed (21) years, that he be a native or resident of the state, and that he is not affiliated with a security or military agency. The eligibility condition is one of the conditions on which jurisprudence is unanimously agreed.
