Abstract

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is widely used in cosmetics and the field of biomedicine. This molecule is commonly found in human and animal bodies. The production of HA used in the market can be divided into a few sources, like animal sources or biosynthesis from bacteria such as Streptococcus zooepidemicus. The use of HA in dentistry is considered relatively new, with few products readily available in the market focused on dental issues. So, in this short article, we will list down the use of HA in dental applications. 1. In bone graft: improve the handling of graft material, promote osteoblastic activity 2. Surface-treated titanium dental implants 3. Treatment of recurrent aphthous ulcer 4. Treatment of alveolar osteitis 5. Treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis The application of hyaluronic acid in dentistry has gained significant attention due to its potential to enhance tissue regeneration and wound healing. It has been used in various dental procedures as described earlier. HA has also shown promising results in reducing postoperative pain and improving the success rate of implant osseointegration. In conclusion, hyaluronic acid is a versatile and promising biomaterial with potential applications in dentistry. Its use in various dental procedures has been increasing, but further studies are required to determine its efficacy and long-term safety.
